Three universities of the Alliance will develop service-learning in Ukraine.

The new joint project, ServU, involves the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCuniversity), Sumy State University, and Dnipro University of Technology (Dnipro University of Technology).

The ServU project has several key areas of activity:

  1. Active dissemination of the service-learning approach among Ukrainian educational institutions, taking into account the conditions of martial law.
  2. Identifying the needs of communities and addressing local issues through service-learning and tertiary-level courses.
  3. Development of a methodology that other educational institutions can use to train teachers and instructors in Ukraine.

At the same time, this project serves as a good example of cross-institutional cooperation, which will assist Ukraine in these challenging times. Foreign universities such as KU Leuven (Belgium), Università LUMSA (Italy), and Katholische Universität Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (Germany) are also partners in the project. Additionally, the project has associated partners from powerful associations in Europe and around the world involved in service-learning, such as the European Association of Service-Learning in Higher Education, CLAYSS, and Uniservitate, as well as business environments. Most importantly, Ukrainian communities are also key partners.

The project is being implemented as part of the Erasmus+ initiative with financial support from the European Union.
