“Our chances to rebuild what has been destroyed, to rethink many things, and to develop are all there. The key is perseverance, readiness to make concrete decisions, and moving forward with renewed strength,” – Taras Khavunka, Chairman of the Board of Lviv Regulatory Hub, expert in local economic development.
The third training program on “Tools for Local Economic Development” is underway in Lviv as part of the project “Strengthening Community Capacities for Reconstruction through Piloting Their Interaction with Universities.” Representatives from 12 communities across Ukraine have once again delegated their specialists to participate in the training. During the first two training sessions, community representatives mastered project management and fundraising. Now, the focus has shifted to tools for local economic development, regulatory policy, land policy as a resource for community economic development, and digital economy.

“The economy of Ukraine is in a difficult state, but in these turbulent times, as always, everything depends on us. Over 7 years of working with more than 80 local self-government bodies across the country, our team has managed to identify a list of effective tools that yield tangible results for community economic capacity. We have compiled these solutions into the course ‘Tools for Local Economic Development,” – says Taras Khavunka.
The course will continue until March 9th at the Ukrainian Catholic University. This is the third of six training programs that community specialists are expected to complete as part of the project “Strengthening Community Capacities for Reconstruction through Piloting Their Interaction with Universities.” The Alliance of Ukrainian Universities implements the project with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation.
