The Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in Ukraine.
The university began its activities in 1834 and has been providing quality education and a high level of knowledge for over two centuries. Since its inception, the Kyiv National University (KNU) has made a significant contribution to the history of Ukraine and continues to play an important role today. Over two centuries, KNU has established its own traditions, gaining international recognition and creating a renowned image. Among the graduates of Shevchenko University are renowned scholars and statesmen, including two presidents of Ukraine. KNU consistently ranks highly in international rankings of higher education institutions in Ukraine and is among the top 50 universities in Eastern Europe. In 2014-2015, Kyiv National University ranked 421-430 in the QS World University Rankings.
Kyiv University maintains broad international ties with universities worldwide. Currently, the university has bilateral partnership agreements with over 345 foreign educational and scientific institutions from 65 countries around the world. Today, Shevchenko University consists of 12 faculties, 7 educational and scientific institutes, 1 educational and scientific center, 3 institutes, 2 colleges, 1 lyceum, and 2 preparatory departments.
