The Alliance delivered a three-day training program “Tools for Local Economic Development” as a part of the project “Strengthening Communities’ Capacity for Reconstruction through Piloting their Interaction with Universities”. During the training, experts from the Alliance, the Lviv Regulatory Hub, and the Department of Economic Policy of the Lviv Regional State Administration shared best practices in local economic development and the effective implementation of specific tools, digitalization and communication in public administration, land policy, and interaction with regional state administrations.

“For example, during the training, the Verkhovyna community independently concluded that they should focus more on working with tourist-oriented businesses or craft producers. Some realized the need to move towards developing an industrial park,” said Stepan Kuibida, Director of the Department of Economic Policy of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
As a result of the training, communities developed 12 projects for the implementation of tools for local economic development. The main focus was on the transformation and development of cities through support for the private sector, efficient use of municipal property, and tourism development. Most participants chose these areas for their projects.

“We want to develop business incubators to help small enterprises, especially in registration and ongoing activities. We also want to create the Zelenodolsky Fair, where our entrepreneurs who produce craft products can showcase their products at various events,” said Tetiana Postna, Chief Specialist in Economic Affairs of the Zelenodolska Municipal Territorial Community.
The project “Strengthening Communities’ Capacity for Reconstruction through Piloting their Interaction with Universities” is implemented by the Alliance of Ukrainian Universities with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation. The information partner of the Alliance is Osvita.ua.
